Wow, almost a month. Time flies when your... How's it go?
Training has been going incredible. Just the other day I passed my total miles logged for all of 2008 when I passed 1550 for this year. I think I'm ready for the AIDS ride.
Then, Saturday night I partied with some old friends in the city, and met some new folks. Several people had done the AIDS ride last year, so I had a bunch of questions for them, and got a bunch of good information. I know I'll be ready now. It'll be miserable no doubt, but I'll make it, no problem. Now the rest of my training will be oriented towards making it easier.
I've also decided to (hopefully) complete a double century this summer. Maybe when I go to Tahoe, maybe a local one. The most I have done is 119 in a day, and I've been over 100 3 times. Going over 200 miles will be quite the adventure. I think it will be a good goal.
However, for the moment, I need to keep at one goal at a time. Training for a double century is totally different from training for a multi day, multi stage event. So, one thing at a time.
I've also found some good new rides in the area that don't deal quite as much with that shitty headwind I get when I go south county. It's nice now, too... Climbing Highway 9 from Saratoga up to Skyline used to kick my ass, now it's actually pretty easy. Let's see how long I can keep it like that!
It is nice to finally have some time off, too. Taking a break from the symphony, since their concert is on the same weekend I'll be riding to LA. And the other symphony has their last concert of the season this weekend. So, I'll have lots of time to myself.
And lots of time to hang out here!
Hopefully...
