So, it's Super Bowl Sunday, apparently.
Today always reminds me of one of my favorite professors in college, my good 'ole music theory prof. Each year he would say the best thing to do on this wonderful day is to sit down to watch the game with a bottle of wine and a book of Beethoven scores. (Or other composers, each year it was someone different, the Beeth just sticks in my skull.)
His plan was to watch the game drinking said wine and analyzing said scores.
Thinking about that now, it's almost tempting. While the stores are more than likely out of beer, sausage, and chips, I'm positive they will have plenty of wine on the shelves, and I have my book of Beethoven scores. And it's certainly been a while since I've done some good 'ole score analyzation.
Only shortcoming with this oh-so-not-nerdy plan? I'd actually have to watch the game.

I watch the Super Bowl mostly for the commercials (which are usually creative and funny, right?) Uh, nope! Not this year. And Tom Petty for half time? Bohhhhh-ring! I think you're definitely on the right track with a little vino and a Beethoven score. There's more creativity in 16 bars of Beethoven than in the five endless hours of game coverage.
