Ok it's time to do some venting.

Overzealous trumpet players.

Why is it that when they get a call to play ONE piece, they show up with 3 or 4 horns, 15 mouthpieces, 9 mutes, enough trinkets and crap to sink the Queen Mary while bankrupting Haiti, all stuffed into a case that looks like it was designed for Rosanne Barr's wedding gown, (Tom Arnold's tux goes into the mute bag hastily clipped to the backside) and still can't get the part right?

"Yeah, sir, I don't think your dim little blue stand light that doesn't even come close to lighting the whole page is going to make you play better..... But that neat-o little clip-on stand fan might!" Maybe you should try the C horn. Or the Eb horn. Or the flugel? I know they're all in there. Naw, can't be that. Try a new mouthpiece. And another. And another. And another. And another. Well fellas, maybe it's time to sell off some of that crap and invest in a technical studies book.

I thought about getting one of those old school clip-on ashtrays and slapping that on my stand just for fun....
