Tonight I went to the Village Tavern, and I witnessed what I hope is the start to something beautiful happening in Mt. Pleasant....the spread of shoegaze. Dirty on Purpose played an amazing show. I was up to my ears in happiness as I watched their guitarist/vocalist, Joseph Jurewicz, completely channel Thurston Moore. The sound was amazing, and the amp feedback was so intense that I almost had to force myself to blink. The hour and a half wait to hear them play was well worth it, and I hope they come back; even though, the turn-out was dismal. I haven't been so awestruck in awhile.
