Went to the Apple store in Soho on Thursday night to try and see a free in-store featuring The XX (http://thexx.info/). That did not happen. The store was way over capacity and and and on top of all the people that were there to see the band the new iMacs are out so everyone and their mother was at the store trying out the new displays and mice. I left and went to check out the sale at the Fred Perry store on Wooster. They always have so many cool things I want but I always refrain from buying because already have too much shit in the closet - not to mention there is a fine line between owning several pieces and being a poster boy for the brand. (see Garth below)

fast-forward to saturday...I had a slow friday night and went to the Levee for some Lone Star and veggie frito pie....
I think I was two seconds away from drowning on Saturday night - the rain was ridiculous. I don't think I have ever been out in the city when that much water was coming down. At one point I took my socks off and rolled up my jeans....needless to say my Van's slip-ons are now super clean. Ended up at bar in the East Village listening to the jukebox and chatting up the cute bartender. Playlist included The Monochrome Set, QOTSA, The Cure, Thirteenth Floor Elevators, Bowie, Rancid, Danzig, and Black Flag - I was all over the place on that one. After many rounds I put my swimsuit on (not really) and headed home for a date with my bed. Ten hours later I emerged for brunch and beautiful weather.
I'm having some moderate luck/success with the my freelance work lately. The extra money is always nice and the stuff I'm working on is somewhat easy and I can crank it out relatively fast, which is good. All this work might lead to job working on a large campaign for Nike doing the front-end - we shall see, we shall see.
I'm kinda getting the itch to go backpacking in Europe next summer. I don't know - that just sounds like a lot of fun to me. I've always wanted to see Germany, the Czech Republic, and the Netherlands and that sorta seems like it might be a good way to do that. Anybody out there in SG land done that?
OK, I feel good about this update. I'll end it here.......

laaa:
i could only drag one friend along with me.. and i think it was only cause i offered to drive
i haven't backpacked, but know of some people who have. it seems like it would be such an amazing way to spend a couple of months.. traveling by train, foot, taxi, scooter, minimal amounts of cash, no plans, just going where the day takes you.
