Tennessee is a looooooooooong frigin' state.
While some people were partying For Your Eyes Only style Saturday, I had to drive all the way to Memphis TN to do a 90 sec monologue for about 200 very bored people. The audition was okay. The worst part is I was the very last person to audition on Sunday. So after seeing about three hundred people all of the jurors eyes were pretty much glazed over by the time I got on-stage. I managed to get three callbacks though, not as many as I had hoped for but still okay. One was for The National Players, a classical touring group based out of maryland. Another was Know Theatre of Cincinnati, a group that performs edgy modern plays, and classical adaptations, and the other was The National Theatre for Children, a group based out of Minneapolis, that tours to schools. Out of the three I really like Know Theatre and what they do, but I feel they are the least likely to hire me. We'll see. I still have some auditions in Atlanta in March, so hopefully I'll have more options.
I didn't get to do much else in Memphis. I got lost a few times, and finally made my way down to the riverfront to watch the Mississippi. It was relaxing. Even though I didn't spent very much time there, Memphis is definitely on my list of cities I could live in.
I spent most of today driving back to Asheville.
