This may surprise you. But PaulNikon takes homelessness personally.
To be honest, I find it hard to see a human being sleep in the street. Especially as rich as this country is.
I have never had much money in the bank. And I pay taxes. It doesn't make sense to me that America can rain Tomahawk missiles onto Iraq at $1,000,000 a piece. BUT we can't pay a homeless persons rent.
Now, don't get me wrong. I'd prefer a missile take the place of a bomber crew. I love my country and those who protect it.
But we should able to house the homeless.
Just saw something interesting on PBS. An organization in New York City houses the homeless. The organization, Pathways to Housing, does NOT require the homeless to get clean, get a job or any other requirement.
Turns out, paying a homeless persons rent is cheaper than not paying a homeless persons rent. Pathways to Housing helps homeless with mental issues. The average dollar amount spent on these people for emergency services in a year is about $100,000. $22,000 is less than $100,000.
And, a person lives in a home. As a hman being should. Not on the street. Like an animal.
Take a look.
It is amazing how a persons mind will clear. How responsible they become. When they have a roof over there head. A key in there pocket, that opens the door to there own home.

This is a good blog man. My friends used to call me gullible because I'd stop at every homeless person I saw in Boston in order to give them a buck or two. I'm sure there was a con-man in there or two, but I could care less as long as I can share a little bit with someone who could use a meal.
