Had the experience of a lifetime an hour ago. I went to a John Kerry public appearence. One thing I learned is that secret service agents have no sence of humor at all! Helicopters were in the air constantly and one of the secret service guys took a personal interest in me. Don't know why, I showed up late alone looking weird(as usual) and they noticed I was watching them more than anything else. There were more reporters, police, local officials, and security than spectators. It was the the most fascinating thing I've ever seen. After Kerry spoke and answered questions (for over an hour) he came over to the area where I and a few dozen other people had been standing to shake hands and say hi. I was one of the few that got close enough to shake his hand and get a couple words in. That entire event will be burned into my memory for the rest of my life.
Friday night I saw Robert Schimmel at the funny bone. That little bastard is funny as hell. He was selling cd's of some of his standup after the show with proceeds going to cancer charities. Ofcourse I bought one and he signed it. Not many people were buying (fuckers) so he had some free time to chat and shoot the shit. He's a nice approachable guy. It's sure as shit been an interesting last few days.
