I believe today is the start of one of those fork in the road of my life. Things are about to change and change drastically. Sometimes, life can kick you in the pants very abruptly and this is that time. What am I talking about? I will of course explain.
I received word late last night from my former manager at work that I would most likely be getting laid off today. Now why whould I possibly be getting laid off? I show up to work every day (literally I have not taken a single sick day this year), on time, and bust my hump. I have been doing this for this company for the past three years. The problem is the company recently hired a new VP of Operations and he is determined to hire people he knows for every position in the company. It's the reason my manager is now my former manager and can give me the heads up on these things. Sure this is a bad thing, but perhaps it's not entirely bad. I'll be able to collect unemployment as I search for a new job, and conisdering the fact that I actually despise my job it could turn out better than anyone could hope. This may just be that proverbially window closing, door opening situation.
The other big development is that on Monday I hooked up with one of my friends for the second time in as many weeks. She has been a friend for a long time (nearly six years) and has always held a little bit of interest but for whatever reason nothing had ever happened between us before. Now we are supposed to be going on a date on Friday and well it could turn out to be really good. I know there's always the chance it doesn't work and I lose a friend, but I believe I'm adult enough for that not to happen. Also, it could work out really well and if I wouldn't have taken the chance on it I might have missed out.
So yeah things are changing in my life. And anyone that knows anyone hiring in the telecommunications field should give me a heads up! Thanks.
