What could possible better than only having to work two days this week and then heading to Chicago for my much needed vacation? Well, probably working no days this week, but I can deal with just the two! I really can't wait till Thursday when I'm on a plane on my way to Chicago for the Pitchfork Music Fest! It's going to be a blast!
This past weekend was an excellent one for me. I started the weekend off Friday night by seeing Beirut open for Jens Lekman. It's the fourth time I've seen Beirut and they just get better and better every time I see them. This time they added "Scenic World" to the set list for the first time ever!! Jens Lekman was absolutely amazing as well. I've been in love with his latest album "You're So Silent Jens" for some time now and seeing him for the first time was a great experience. He played most of his hit songs including "Black Cab", "Julie", and "A Hot Summer's Night on Hammer Hill", but those all paled in comparison to his finale of "Maple Leaves" performed with just an acoustic guitar and his voice, not even using the soundsystem in the building and it was beautiful. A perfect show if ever there was one.
Saturday we celebrated my best friend Jessica's birthday despite the bad weather. It was a great time that was spent drinking tons of alcohol, eating Jell-O shots, and the general carousing found at any house party. The night was long though as we drank until 5am.
Sunday I spent most of the day just reading the Sunday Times and recovering from the ridiculous amount of alcohol imbibed the previous evening. It was nice and relaxing and was exactly what was needed. Now, I just can't wait to go away!!!!
