Royal Mail are notoriously crap. If it hadn't been rejected it would've been left at your local sorting office and you could've just gone there first thing in the morning and claim it with some proof of address. I guess instead it would've gone back to the sender. Which doesn't help.
It may be easier to ring the train people to explain what happened and get them to notify the station and get your ticket re-issued...?

Doesn't look like the weather in Vancouver is going to be all that different from here at the moment, but at least I'll be somewhere different, give my head a chance to reboot.
