Ok... I was at Ozzfest last summer in the pit at Crickett Pavillion and let me say that it was NOTHING like the pit was last night at the Dodge Theatre. Opiate For The Masses opened for Manson and to be honest they weren't too bad. We got a little packed in when they came on but we weren't prepared for the rush once Manson hit the stage.
There was only one person between us and the barricade. Fortunately they were short girls too so we didn't have any problem seeing over them. I didn't at least... my girl isn't the biggest person in the world so I had to try and pull her right behind them between the two so she could have an open view. The music started with the curtain still up and they started to push forward. The curtain dropped and Manson is standing there swaying back and forth and instantly we were crushed. Did I mention I fucking LOVE being in the pit?
Let's see... normally I can't remember what songs were done and what were not. I was talking with some freaky individuals (I mean freaky in a good way) that were at the show the night before and they said he ripped off about 20 songs from years gone past. Basically it sounded like he would follow "Lest We Forget". He pretty much did that.
I beleive he opened with The Love Song... hell I can't remember. I do know he did Personal Jesus and had the loveliest cathedral setting in the background. He also did Great Big White World with the same background. mOBSCENE was done nicely although he didn't have his whores from Ozzfest. The Fight Song... Tainted Love... The Dope Show... Disposable Teens (Which is my favorite) Tourniquet... Rock is Dead... Get Your Gunn... The Nobodies (Which is my girl's favorite)... The Beautiful People... where he brought back the stilts... The Golden Age of Grotesque... which is one of my favorites too.
Of course right before The Golden Age some fucking crowd surfer came right down on my girl and nearly knocked her out. I had to get her out of the pit and to the medics. We missed a few of the last songs so I am sure he did Lunchbox... Sweet Dreams... This Is The New Shit and possibly the Reflecting God and a few others. Add it all up and it is right there at 20 songs... or close to it.
