Today is Cinco de Mayo, we remember the Battle of Pueblo, where 2,000 starving and outgunned Mexicans defeated 4,000 French. It is a bigger day to the US than Mexico.
The US was fighting our own Civil Wat, and nobody really knows what Louis Napoleon intended those troops to do. I believe the Louis Napoleon had given them orders to head west and hold California and the rest of the west. You see, Louis Napoleon believed that the US reneged on the payments due to France for the Louisiana purchase. This was not true, the deal was with the Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte. There was no deal with France.
Tonight's menu included soft taco, crispy tacos, enchiladas, chips with queso, salsa and guacamole.
Love Mexico. Love Mexicans. Hate El Tri.
Today there is a great deal of misunderstanding between the governments of the United States and Mexico. There always has been. Today, we thank you. We thank you for standing up when the US was in no condition to do so. Thank you for the wonderful cuisine. We thank you especially for all the beautiful Mexicanas.
