I just fielded a call from an Agent at interestingly enough, an Agency.
Courtney has an agent. As soon as she identified herself, I thought she might have an agent. Around 20 years ago, she wrote lesbian romance novels. An older man, set in his ways, has no place in his life for a young woman. He is not bad; on the contrary, he is kind. Just neglectful, Then she is kidnapped by lesbian pirates.
All right, not so sensational. Just a bored woman takes a chance with another woman, and discovers herself. Lesbian coming of age. I remember Courtney calling it "a very narrow market." She write under a pseudonym, of course.
I had no idea who this woman was. Yes, this is Courtney's phone number, yes, she can normally be reached at this number. No, she is not here, she went on an impromptu vacation with a friend to Europe. Yes, I believe she will be back early nest week. No, I am not at liberty to give you a cell phone number.
So, I did not lie. I just did not tell the whole truth. As her right, she did not give me the nature of her business with Courtney. does she want another book? Does Courtney owe another book? Does somebody owe somebody else some money? Does Courtney need a lawyer?
Trouble is the exact opposite of what we need right now, with Fall vacation just weeks away.
