Happy new year!
I've not mentioned Christmas here yet, but it was overall quite dull and tame so nothing to really bother all y'all with. Nice to have time off work and nice to sit down and watch TV all day!
This week's been great so far. On Monday I got a gig at short notice at the Frog and Bucket and did rather well indeed. Had fun and rocked it! The only criticism from my housemate who was there was that I said "Err.." too much. A symptom of my half thought-through ideas that I call material. Learning it better and tighter is obviously the antidote.
Last night was AWESOME! I went to see The Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster (http://www.myspace.com/eightiesmatchboxblinedisaster) here in Manchester.
They've been one of my favourite bands since I was about 14 years old and I've only ever seen them live once (and that was at Download). It was a great gig. During one song I was right in the middle of all the pushing and shoving that comes with the rock and roll when I turned around to see the band's singer stood right next to me, microphone in hand, singing along merrily. "How nice" I thought.
It was a great great gig. On par with, if not better than Municipal Waste earlier in December.
The stroke of midnight was a bit funny. The band finished a song, looked around, asked for the time (it was 11.55) then just started counting down from ten and played their last song (though not before an encore). IT WASN'T EVEN MIDNIGHT! Ahh well.
Everyone I was out with ended up arguing with each other, fucking off in different directions and nobody had the decency to go "Leigh, you're coming with me". I was literally left on my own. I turn around and find that I'd been deserted. As I was already on Oldham Street, I walked along to the Frog & Bucket where lots of Manchester's comedians had been drinking all night. I drank some more, had a good time and then came home on the bus.
Lovely.

Good to have another real life friendly face onboard.
