I recieved an email last night from work about "professionalism" in regard to attendance and tardiness. It was a mass email generated for every teaching artist I suppose, or just the first year teachers or just those of us they deem unprofessional. Maybe I dont like receiveing those types of emails after putting in a long week for them or maybe I am just being paranoid because I have not been the most punctual teacher but I do not like being managed through fear. Again my job was held over my head and I do not think that is very professional, but I digress.
I do not want this to be the space where I constantly bitch about work, not having time and new york in general so I am going to try and mix it up a bit. Last night was pretty cool if not a little weird. I hung out with my boss from the job I have had the longest, here in NY. He is my age, actully a bit younger and he invited me over to rip cd's, which I am completely against but I humored him. He is trying to turn me onto Reggae which I want to believe there is good stuff out there, simply because Joe Strummer adored it but alas I find most of it kind of hokey sounding. He did play some great sounding songs, not that I can for the life of me remeber what they are. So we smoked and listened to records and talked about music, which for me was the coolest part.
