"You drank with demons straight from hell, they almost nearly won as well...."
I guess I haven't updated in a while. I wish I could say I've been busy but I haven't been, I've just been playing some WoW.
My father's birthday was Saturday so I got him a cake and some ice cream. He has enough money to where the only presents he wants would cost multiple thousands of dollars or else he just buys it for himself. So me and Rebecca get over there and he's sleeping in his chair. I wake him up and he's more than sleepy, he could barely focus on me and his speeech was slurred. I thought he'd had a stroke at first, turns out he was just drunk. Actually, he was incedibly drunk.
He turned 70 that day and I know it really depressed him.
Dealing with him was a bit tiring, but the food was good. I should make Shrimp sometime soon. He called Sunday and apologized for his behavior, I'm not sure how much he remembers but I'm sure his gf gave him an earfull.
So I was driving along today, going to lunch, and a big ass truck/SUV thing slammed into me. I don't know what it's called but it looked bigger than a Hummer. Escalade or something. Anyway one of my students was in front of me and she got out to check on me, as did the guy. We pulled off into a parking lot to look at the damage. Fortunately it wasn't too bad. My back bumper is kinda pushed in some, but I don't think I can open the trunk anymore. All the lights still work and everything, which is cool. Also, I was holding onto ythe steering wheel, so when the truck hit me from behind, well, I still was. Turns out I can accidently have the grip amd mass to bend a steering wheel. The top half of it is bent at a good 20-30 degree angle, but I don't think it's broken. Plus my seat's kinda pushed back, I think it might just be off the rails.
So I've already talked to the guy's car insurance chick and she's gonna tell me where to go. I'm not too worried about it as the car is driveable, he really didn't hit me that hard. I know I'll be sore in the morning, but I've been rear ended before, so I know how it goes. She'll call me in the A.M. to tell me where to go to get it fixed, which is just a damn hassle. I kinda need the seat fixed but I bet I could jury rig it, and maybe just keep any money they give towards fixing it.
So my classes are going. I have sorta an odd schedule this semester, but then, this place is nothing but odd schedules.
Other than that, life is just kinda going. I have a fair ammount of lowgrade stress about work, but that's about all.
I've been very consumeristic lately.
Stuff I bought:
* Consortium Of Genius CD
Subscription to Bizarre Magazine
Subscription to Car Talk though Audible (Plus a few ala carte episodes)
Subscription to NewScientist
Groceries (Muenster cheese ftw)
Car Tires (Ok that was a bit back, but I'm counting it)
The Science of Discworld III
Of course, there's more I need to get.
o The Fantastic Ooze CD
Another subscription to another scince news type rag (Suggestions, anyone?)
New Computer
Paul Riddell's new book
The Science of Discworld II
Well, enough boring you. Begone, ye!
