Like a King without his Crown, Yes, you keep fallin' down.
Lo, kids.
It's been a while again, life keeps happening. Christmas is tomorrow, I must say it doesn't feel like it did when I was a kid. I don't know if it's a matter of perception or actual change, but holidays don't seem as...promoted as they used to be.
It's espescially true of Haloween, but all the others as well. Maybe I'm just getting old.
What the fuck is with all this bullshit about 'The war on Christmas'? This shit really pisses me off. I'm tired of all these right-wing fucknuts making up an enemy then 'fighting' them.
There is no war on christmas.
I have a feeling that a few people started saying 'Happy Holidays' because it quite literally means 'Happy Holy Days' and it's easier than trying to say 'Happy Chyristmas, Kwaanza and Hanukkah', since they're all holy days, you get it over with with one damn phrase. Nice and easy. Then Fox News decided that that wasn't good enough and declared it to be a 'War on Christmas'. It's obvious they'd been planning this thinly-veiled excuse to release new propaganda touting their own ideals for quite some time as the books are already on the shelves, demonizing the 'liberals who want to destroy christmas'. It's like The Grinch Who Stole Christmas, it's a fairy tale that only the helplessly gullible will believe. Except for adults.
The whole thing makes me very tired of this world. I'm sick of O'Riley and his ilk exploting evreything to push thier own goddamn agendas.
Well, finished up my christmas shopping today. Now I have to make with the wrapping. I hate wrapping presents, I'm just horrible at it. I had to wrap one thing last night and that was annoying enough. Now it's another dozen or so things. Sigh...
Still, for all my bitching I actually enjoy Christmas. I love buying stuff for people. I've never understood people who get depressed during the holidays, it's a time of food, friends, family. Getting together and eating and talking and generally relaxing. I'm not sure where the depression part comes in, and I'm a pretty depressive guy. Ah well, if we went around understooding how minds worked this world would be a lot more boring.
Bye, kids. Have a good one.
