What to do ..
I've nearly 100% decided that I want to go back to school, but I have some issues to work out.
I could go back part time, or full time - as it stands now, full time will entail me staying w/ my family and basically cramping my social life both because I live at home and because I'll be going out of my mind with work ( that second one is unavoidable and I don't mind )
Or.. today I was talking to a friend of mine who recently bought himself a condo here in the city - not a huge place, but big enough for him and his girlfriend. He actually pays less in mortgage than my family does where we live - there are incidentals, but there are here as well. Then there's the added bonus that the money he pays to his mortgage is staying in his pocket in the end, seeing as a home purchase is basically a huge investment / savings account - when you resell you get your money back for the most part.
So I started thinking that if I can put together the funds for a downpayment of reasonable size, lets say in the next year or two, then I can get myself my own place (to own - which is cool 'cause at that point I can do as I wish with it) - and get this, if I rent out a room to a roommate, in particular while I'm in school - I should be able to go to school, and afford to live during that time /AND/ the money my roommate would pay would be going into my mortgage too, so it'd be money in my pocket in the end..
Downside on this one is I /also/ remain w/ the family for another year or two, but the only options that get me out of here now kinda suck - no investment in my future money-wise, and no school either .. since I won't be able to swing it all that well unless I do it part time, and at that point its 5 years or so of stress, no time for anything and no money saved..
I think my mind is already made up, but I was so looking forward to finally getting out of here.. ah well.. am I crazy?
