I love reptiles. All animals, really, but especially reptiles. I own a ball python and plan on getting many more. When I was a kid it was my dream job to be a herpetologist. My fascination started when I was 7 years old, at least that's as far back as I can remember. Well, I noticed that my son really likes them, so I started getting him books and showing him videos on different types of snakes. Now he thinks he's a field expert. He's 5 years old and lives in west Texas. His dad caught him playing with wild snakes twice in the past week. Luckily, they were nonvenomous, and he pointed this out to his dad. Unfortunately, there are a lot of rattlesnakes in west Texas, and I really wish he would not get close enough to find out what type of snake they are by himself. I've created a little Steve Irwin and now I'm slightly scared. While I'm happy that he shares my love for reptiles and is eager to learn more about them, I am afraid he's going to mess with the wrong snake in the wild. I hope he listens to his dad and me and leaves wild snakes alone.
