"and not the good stuff like robert johnson, but the cheesy kind often played by glitzy white dudes. "

that made me laugh. there is an aspen based station back home like that. it seems to me like most places get to be like that after a while. i have a serious case of wanderlust, so staying put has always been a bit of a challenge for me, and i can definitely relate to stuff like that getting on your nerves.
if it makes you feel any better the southern california bros and bro-hos make me feel all stabby, i actually couldn;t stand the culture here for the longest time, but somehow recently managed to find my niche. i still get bored and annoyed with the monotony though, which i guess you can find everywhere.

i miss that glowing green you mentioned in oregon, i also remember spending some nights out and about on various hallucinogens watching the fog roll in through those giant old gnarled trees over the green, and thinking "this can't possibly be real". the only place i've ever seen that might be greener is ireland, and if so it's only a little greener wink

I hope i didn't poop in anyone's punch bowl with that last one. I just think it's important to not live in oblivion, celebrating what amounts to a lie. However, I do think we can then take that knowledge and do what we will with it, whether by renaming the holiday, boycotting it or turning it into something more personal and sincere.

Myself, I spent...

not sure if you ever went to The Music Box in the mall in glenwood (it was the only record store in town), but that was my parent's shop, and i worked there all through highschool and in the summers during college wink
bettybruises:
Ahaha yeah I wasn't partying up at CMC at age 11 or 12 (or getting lost on backroads tripping tongue )
I do have an older half sister but she grew up in Denver. The photography program up there is quite good from what I understand. I probably was at the pool while you were working there though!
Ski passes at Sunlight are still pretty cheap (I LOVE that mountain), Sopris is beautiful as always, the only thing that at times is hard for me coming back is not much changes. I'm kind of realizing that I probably don't actually want to move back here, my life just isn't here anymore...
I'm thinking Southern California may be an okay place for me for the time being, and eventually as the economy starts to recover, I can look at relocating to Portland, because I love and miss Oregon.

ORIGINS OF THANKSGIVING

The year was 1637.....700 men, women and children of the Pequot Tribe, gathered for their "Annual Green Corn Dance" in the area that is now known as Groton, Conn.

While they were gathered in this place of meeting, they were surrounded and attacked by mercernaries of the English and Dutch. The Indians were ordered from the building and as they came forth,...

Honestly, this doesn't surprise me at all. I shall stay happy honoring family and my heathen ways. smile
lilli:
*sadness* While I agree that the origins were heinous, I can't help but love what Thanksgiving has come to mean to me... a day to snuggle up with my family at home, make yummy food, and just be grateful for all our blessings.

Blessed be, soul brother, whatever you do with your day! kiss

Almost wink
A friend of mine posted that article on Facebook today too, and it made me giggle ceaselessly. Hahahahaha. Brilliant! Especially the flowers biggrin
bettybruises:
Don't mention that to TSA, otherwise they may just try to go there!!! eeek

The way I see it is if someone really wants to take a plane down, they will probably find a way to do it without using banned items, as we've seen. Not to mention the people since 911 have mostly been whack jobs rather than calculating criminals. The best method of prevention is locking the cock pit, possibly having air marshals on board (kind of creepy, but...) and passenger prevention in my opinion. Feeling people up in TSA security lines is just retarded. whatever

I'm caught in an eddy

treading water and dizzy

how do i escape this whirlpool?

which way do i swim?

or is it futile to even try?

perhaps if I quiet my mind and relax my body

the current will take me downstream

...where waterfalls and jagged rocks are no doubt ahead

or I could take the hand from someone on shore

and sit beneath...

gratitude and love are far from the same....

and as jaded and awful as it sounds, i have realized over the years that sometimes love isn't enough on it's own, I have a hopeless romantic and a realist living inside my head and those two are constantly at odds with each other wink

funk temporarily averted

I got to spend a few hours in my garden today, soothed by the cool, moist air and vibrant green mandalas of various members of the brassicaceae family. My soil's health is progressing nicely, reflected in the abundance and vitality of all those collards and kales n' such. I also spent some time raking leaves and adding layers to my compost. Two...

were it not for tomorrow

i'd like to hope i could wake to find it gone

but i think there's something rotting

in the closet of my mind

but what the fuck

maybe...

You've granted me with perspective of what it is like to free, thank you.

I believe I enjoy your writing far more than my being able to write. I believe that we should be mates.

my head's not quite yet right enough to tell the full tale, but suffice to say that lots of crazy-fun characters slipped through the veil for a raucous good time before slipping back to their haunts in the foggy morning light
