Cross country skiing was great, but we decided that we want to go downhill for Christmas instead. My youngest son decided to end his ski lesson by pulling off his boots and crawliing toward the lodge. My mom went to get his gear(I had just run back to the vehicle to get our lunch), and by the time she got his poles-skis-boots and came back to the lodge to get him he was gone. So she panicked and got all the instructors looking for him. Eventually they found him about 15 feet from the door in a snow drift playing and having a great time. When I came back with our lunch, she started yelling at me that my son was an uncontrollable spoiled brat and how could I have raised him to do such things and blah blah blah.
He isn't spoiled, I can't believe she said that. He is, however, a 6 year old.
Anyway, she then insisted on driving him back down the moutain to town to spend the day with his mom because after all of that he didn't deserve to go skiing with us. He didn't want to ski with us in the first place and he was quite happy to be going back.
So he and his mom spent the day looking for something nice to get grandma because he felt so bad that he made her mad. When we got back he gave her a bear that he got her and she blew him off, so he decided not to give her the other thing that he got for her. Then the next day she starts yelling at us because 'our idea of punishing him for being so bad was to take him toy shopping.' She didn't get it at all, he spent a couple hours dragging his mom from store to store looking for the right thing to get grandma to show her he was sorry.
Other than that, the rest of us had a pretty good time. I got to ski alone with my 9yr. old for about 2 hours while we waited for grandma to get back. We laughed alot and played in the snow and stopped to built a fort and drank hot tea from a thermos and found some great hills to zip down over and over.
How was your Thanksgiving?
