Ok so I have just returned from a lovely early morning bike ride including some long hills and some tall hills. When I started this whole triathlon training bit I was totally unable to ride up any hill. I can now. It's slow but it's steady and I don't fall over. My shoes are even clipped to my peddals and I can get them off whenever I need without falling over for real. What a trip.
This whole training thing is hard for me though. It's pretty embarassing that I let myself get so weak. I have gotten stronger and stronger but it is still hard. Now I'm able to swim a mile, ride my bike forever (I think maybe I'll do cycle Oregon next year which is mega mega riding for a week) but I still can't run. Why on Earth is running so hard for me. I used to run a lot. Granted I am heavier than I was back then, oh yes and older. I am working on it though. Hopefully by the end of the month I'll have it together.
The triathlon is on September 13th in Lincoln City Oregon. It's a sprint triathlon, a mini. Some would call it a beginner triathlon. That is for sure what it is for me. This is what I will be doing. I will Swim .75k in a cool lake (Devils Lake - nice name right), ride 15.5k on paved hilly road around the lake (At least I can get up a hill. I hear the bike leg starts at the bottom of a hill though---UGH) and end with a 5k run on city streets (into the lovely little beach town I think, not really sure).
I've missed it here. I really haven't had any sort of time at all for this though. I have been working hard on all aspects of life, health and well being, work, family. It's all been very consuming. Such is life right.
I hope your all well.
