So last night was one eventful night. There were great parts, good parts and parts filled with drama. All in a great night.
The night started off with me and my friend Henry going to the Rangers game at the Coliseum. NY Rangers vs. NY Islanders. We had great seats were in a section of all Rangers fans and we went nuts. The Rangers beat the crap out of the Isles 5-1 and it was a great game.
After that we went to Applebees where we met up with a bunch of people from school and had a great time there. We were loud and energetic and it was great. One friend almost got into a fight with this guy and they went toe to toe and almost got into it until me and another friend stepped in between and dragged our friend away. Then the rest of the time there we joked around and had fun.
THEN we get back on campus to find out that there was a fire in one of the building and all the RAs and RDs were called onto duty. So Lead RA Chris is officially called on. Part of the building flooded and we arent sure yet if the electrical work was affected. We had to evacuate the building then gather all 160 residents into another building to inform them of what happened and what was going to be done. Then wing by wing we allow the residents 5 minutes escorted by RAs to get a few things from there rooms. So we go into total escorted evac situation with flashlights and all screaming how much time they have and everything. Then once that is done we had to check the entire building room by room to make sure that the building is empty. Then set up living arrangements in the Student Union for those residents with nowhere to go because their building is officially closed until deemed safe by fire inspectors and electricians. Red Cross helped us out giving us cots and such which was good. after alll the craziness a few of us decide to go out to a diner which would up being a bust after sitting there for 20 some odd minutes with no service at all. So we left and went to Dunkin Donuts. lol.So we picked up a bunch of donuts and bagels for the residents so they had something to eat. Then got back to school and were told we were officially off of duty at 6am.
What a fun night. The day in the life of an RA.
