I had an amazing experience yesterday afternoon..........I have been wanting to see a hummingbird up close. The hummingbirds that come to my yard are VERY quick and I hardley get to see them. My friend has a feeder right on her porch AND bee bom, which they love,so they come right near her when she is sitting on the porch as long as she is quiet. Well, yesterday we sat on her porch and watched the hummingbirds feed and fight..haha! it was amazing to see them so up close. well, we happened to go in her house to get some water (she had the screen door open) and all the sudden we heard a loud buzzing sound coming from the sun room..it was a hummingbird!!! the poor thing was flying right near my friends cactus. we grabbed the camera real quick and took some really good shots of her flying and then my friend grabbed her gently to get her back outside and away from the cactus!
we got to hold her and pet her. it was AMAZING!! they are so tiny and fragile! she (the bird) was scared but very friendly and sat in our hands for a little bit until she flew away. WOW! it was really awesome! you can't get any closer than that! I'll have to scan some pictures and post them
