Hello. Hello. Hello.
I was just in the middle of admiring the Gutter Twins, Greg Dulli's new project. I always lose him in my musical interests. But back in my teens when grunge and angst was all the rage I could be found lamenting with Afghan Whigs. It's weird that I forget his efforts from time to time. But then all at once I think of him and then go looking to see what he's up to, and every single time I do this. He has made something new.
Take the best singers you ever heard the ones that could sing in a way that just the sound of there voice can hit you right in the soul, give you chills, and then listen to this. The Gutter Twins
So Shannon and I went to see the Dark Knight yesterday.
I've read that people have called this the best movie ever!!! That Heath Ledger is the definitive Joker, and all I want to know is what movie were you all watching?
Now I'm not going to lie and say that this movie sucked balls like crack whore for five bucks, but it wasn't as great as I was led to believe. People were harsh on the last Star Wars flick and well that kicked the Dark Knights ass. But any way let's get on with it.
The good the bad the Dark Knight
Gary Oldman, is just the man his portrayal of Commissioner Gordon gives this movie real heart. He Aaron Eckhart, Morgan Freeman, and Michael Caine are the true pillars of truth on which this film firmly stands, they delivered all the emotion and memorable lines of the film, the choices they make and how their characters grow are what keeps the film going while Christian Bale is off Portraying Batman as pudgy constipated fellow who can't fight worth a damn... And to think the first movie was built around him being a total badass, and the next leader of the league of shadows, please somebody call Ray Parke in for the fighting stunt double. Everytime Bale spoke as Batman I was pissed off. Ledger as the Joker was okay, not great, but not bad either he somewhat cheapened the character for me made him more of a thug.
Beautifully shot as it was and as intense as some of the actions scenes were can't make up for a lack of story and let's face it possibly the worst Batman ever.
Fortunately all the major villains except for the Riddler are dead, the rest are either too simple or too cartoonish for another big screen revival.
My advice is go see Hellboy instead.
*Also apparently a print has been found of the long lost Lon Chaney classic London After Midnight, apparently they have unearthed a copy in the UCLA archives.*
