Before I say one damned thing, everyone PLEASE go say good-bye and best wishes to grumpyoldbastard. His subscription is expiring and he doesn't seem to be coming back. He has been nothing but sweet and kind to me, and he never failed to comment on my blog entries, no matter how annoying/emo/repetitive/dull they were. Good luck, dear! Thanks for being so lovely!
So I got a note in the mailbox saying I had a package waiting at the office. Since "My LPU" said that my 5.0 package shipped on 27 Apr, I assumed that I had my new Underground stuff there. I went to pick up the envelope, and instead of Linkin Park Underground for the return address, it said Machine Shop Marketing. Me = . Well, wasn't I pleasantly surprised to see all of THIS in there.
I had received an e-mail from the Street Team headquarters talking about a stickering promotion, but when I signed up for it, it said that I would receive an e-mail about whether or not they would choose me to take part in the promotion. Since I didn't get a note back, I guessed that they had enough people and weren't going to send me anything. And I CERTAINLY didn't expect so much! What was mentioned in the e-mail: small stickers to label "The Rising Tied" with, to draw attention to the fact that that, ahem, hot new song "Where'd You Go?" was on the album. What I got: those stickers, plus large stacks of large flyers, small flyers, and promotional decals.
I have to take these and my camera, and go to every music store I can get to, check to see if they're carrying TRT, talk to the store employees and ask them for permission to change the labels, check stock on the album and check sales, have pictures taken of myself labeling the CDs and of the store that I'm in, give the stores flyers and put some up wherever I can find a place. So much to do...but bob, I'm so excited to do it! I'm going to talk to either Teresa or Melody and see if they would mind dragging me all over town for this, either on Friday or Saturday, as those are my days off. If I get enough pictures showing me doing this street team work, I could win signed vinyls of "Petrified", "Remember the Name", and a couple of others. Yay!
And something else is good for me. I finished work today and called home to my sister. I had decided to take a walk before I came home, so I couldn't make any excuses about exercising. My plan was to walk to Wal-Mart and back, because that's about 5 miles, a nice, pleasant little walk. My foot has been bothering me pretty bad because I haven't been babying it like I should (I don't know if you any of you lot noticed in my "going away" pics from my husband's deployment, but I was on crutches, having broken my baby toe in several places and the metatarsal [sp.?] attached to it as well), but the inactivity has been KILLING me, especially in light of my weight gain recently (I'm up 15 pounds and it's making me so depressed). So...I went. And I listened to tunes, and sang along, and enjoyed the heat and light of the sun, and the wind, and the solitude, and the ambient traffic noises and sights.
And then I thought...
You know what would be faster than walking?
How about a bike?
Isn't this the sweetest goddamned bike you ever seen?!
Flames. OMFG FLAMES! How could I not get this thing? It was fate, hand to bob. And no, the helmet didn't come with it...again, just serendipity at work, my friends. I HAD to have it. And the best part was that it was on sale, clearance. It was the last in stock, and the tires were dirty, hence the cheapness. I also bought a helmet, as you see, a headlight and tail-light set, and a strong lock. I should probably go back for a pump and maybe a more squishy seat--it's a men's bike and the seat is a bit narrow for my tastes.
Pedro says "holla at ya boy".
And? Thanks to my little brother (he now owns his own webhosting company and knows HTML inside and out), I'm going to have what might possibly be the coolest Linkin Park fan page ever. Details to come soon...well, not soon. Probably months from now. But it's in the works. And I'm SO fuckin' excited.
P.S. "...So you walked with me for a while
Bared your naked soul
And you told me of your plan
How you would never let them know
In the morning of the night
You cried, a long lost child
And I tried on, I tried to hold you
But you were young
And you were wild
But I, I will never be the same
Oh I, I will never be the same
Caught in your eyes
Lost in your name
I will never be the same..."

like...last year.
I worked as a barrista for a week, but my shift at Panera Bread wouldn't start until 6.30. Your shift IS ungodly!
But I do love a white chocolate mocha. Mmm.
