It was alright, some company would have made it better. wink

Since you are the resident movie expert, i have an adult swim question for ya:
Netflix recommeds skipping Season 1 and just jumping into Season 2 of Venture Bros.
Is this a good or bad idea?
Does either season have a plethora of unibrows?

For once I have no deadlines-- no meetings-- no homework

It's actually very refreshing. I've got a lot to do around my apartment like cleaning and stuff, but with Grindhouse on, having a cocktai, and a homemade meal... I just don't feel motivated enough. lol.

I think I'm entitled to a little break. I forgot how great this movie can be smile

joydiv:
Is grindhouse the car one or the zombie one? Or does it refer to both collectively?

Encore, in HD! I Tivo'ed it, hoping they'll include all the previews that the separate DVDs omitted. Only the Japanese got a proper full DVD release of the whole enchilada. Kurt Russell's wonderful in that.

fuck, it's Monday.

I'll typically log onto my work email to get a "sneak preview" of my day.. and I feel the anxiety creeping in. I wish my job included commission. I swear, it wouldn't be so bad working with these people and pretending to "love them all".

All right, time to get my game face on, look professionally cute, brew my coffee and head...

Thomas Jane starring in... Good Oldboy! No, it doesn't quite work. There's a tone to those films which is just as important as the story, action, shock value, etc., and McG or whatever hack they line up just won't have it. Look what they did to Shutter and Shall We Dance? If relatively straightforward genre pieces can't be translated for the US audience, how can something like Lady Vengeance (starring Charlize Theron)? Ugh. Scorcese doing Infernal Affairs didn't help either: Departed made coin and won awards, so naturally there's now a list of other candidates, Park Chan-wook among them. They may all talk to my hand.

I blame American audiences. Movies like Swing Girls & The Host should have been blockbusters here, but no one will read subtitles. Instead we get anemic remakes. Again, ugh.

You got duped! LOLZ indeed. I hope you remember the little people when you're onstage at the Independent Spirit Awards.

As an aside, it's a delight to meet someone with similar enough tastes to discuss film. You're pretty boss!

keeperdesign:
And you'll be willing to let a friend read that thesis, right?

I'm not in porn

Seems like when I mention that I'm working on an independent film project-- the first notion that pops into people's head is porn. lol. Sure I live in California, okay-- maybe i am pretty, but it doesn't mean I'm secretly stating that I work on a porno for vivid or wicked pictures, etc. (ya, right).

Other than being an antagonistic work...

Born in the Cincinnati area, but the other side of the river. I actually moved to Ohio, though down the river from Cincy, when I was in high school. that was a huge driver in my joining the Air Force. If you ever lived there you'd understand.

Sundays are bittersweet bitch

I won't lie, my total guilty pleasure is football. Nothing I love doing than being lazy, drinking beer and watching the game. however, I've got a final due and so much work to be done. So.. that fucking sucks. AND tomorrow is Monday so that means going back to work.. that fucking sucks even more.

I might just be cranky cause...

Welcome back to SG. You should join the SGSD group and say hi to everyone.

Yes, reading seems to be a lost art in SD. It's hard to blame people when the weather always invites us outdoors. And I really should read more than I do. And cut my Netflix plan back to 2-at-a-time.
Incidentally, I re-watched Blade Runner recently too. It was "The Final Cut" version on Blu-Ray. Special effects were cleaned up compared to the old version and none of the stupid voiceovers.

I was bummed about the Chargers game too. Though I watched it while drinking my coffee so at least there was a silver lining to that ugly London cloud. Though I think coffee and Diet Coke were poor preparation for my jog -- I was dying after 5 minutes!

That was an old post. I figure if I have nothing enriching to say I may as well say nothing. I have since put on pants on multiple occasions and started a grand adventure in Alabama. Actually, it's neither grand nor an adventure. It is however, school of sorts; and it is almost over.

Sorry 'bout the Chargers. At least they're not 0-fer. Go Bengals!

I'M BACK!

After a 3 year absence, I decided to return. It's been a while. I can't remember why I left in the first place really. So many great people, beautiful SG ladies, with shared interests.

Right now, I just got home not too long ago from working and working out. I'm enjoying a nice cold glass of lager and enjoying the company of my...
