New York is good, Brooklyn is good, life is pretty good. Still no internet at my place. Still real busy all the time and have been working at a gallery in Chelsea as well as on the trucks at my other job. Finding time to make work in the in between times, but not as much as I'd like. Still... have started a new piece that I'm pretty excited about and am getting a back log of ideas... which is frustrating but better than not having any. Otherwise, lost my bag and all contents recently. Sucks as I now have no ID other than my passport which I don't like carrying around. Also replaced a Bailey Works bag with a Freight backpack and I hate to say it, but I think it's a little heavier duty than I really need. Bummer. Want to trade or sell me a messenger bag for a fair price? No, seriously. Got Netflix and have been watching Ingmar Bergmann films. The Seventh Seal is fucking amazing and I'm glad to have finally seen it... and, for you metal nerds, it's also the source of an Agalloch sample on The Mantle. I'm slowly building fluency in the Swedish language so that I can speak to my family there once I get the means to visit. So far I have necessities such as, "Who are you?" and "I am Death," should come in handy. The Dissection DVD also rules and there will always be a little empty space in my heart knowing that I'll never get to see them live. Speaking of - going to see Watain next week along with my buddy's band from Seattle, Book of Black Earth. Fucking excited about that and have no one to go with. Last time I saw them (Watain, y'know, cos that Set guy from Dissection tours w/them) they covered The Somberlain... gave me goosebumps. Oh yeah! Almost forgot to mention the Carcass show I went to with Granny and met up with Derceto at, great time. In fact, probably one of the best shows I've ever been to. It was Rotten Sound, Aborted, 1349, Suffocation, and Carcass. Got punched in the head and introduced the phrase, "Time to grind!" to my vocabulary. Did not appreciate being punched and had a sore neck for a week, always appreciative of new vocabulary. They were all everything you could hope they would be and the sound was amazing, plus the show was on Times Sq which in and of itself is not especially cool, but the massive light up marquee had an animation of dripping gore and metal logos that reflected off the nearby buildings. Also looking forward to some openings a week from this Friday. Also, if you've got a reading recommendation, please send it my way. I just finished Dave Hickey's Air Guitar and Cormack McCarthy's Blood Meridian... very different, both amazing. All these good things said... where the fuck are all the tattooed girls here?
