Happy new year to all, albeit a little late. I hope everyone had enjoyable celebrations and got to spend time with people they care about. My west coast trip was a good time, caught up with a ton of people that I hadn't seen in a year and hang out with some of my closest friends and family. It was also nice to reconnect with some people in the bay area that I didn't think I would ever see again and make some new friends. It was a time of dress up parties, metal shows, absinthe, snowball fights, excessive drinking, bonfires, mountain vistas, sushi, video games, homo-erotic behavior, and beautiful sunsets. My birthday was announced on a local metal show and I got to see my friends' new band Obstruktor play who, incidentally, fucking DESTROY and totally killed a cover of Death's 'Overactive Imagination'. My best friend for like 20 something years shredded all the solos... so fucking cool. I was accused multiple times of being or looking younger, which is cool I guess. I am now 28 if you were curious.
I also went and saw Cirque du Soleil in San Francisco. Ask me about contortionists sometime if you see me in person and you'll be highly amused by my attempts to relate what a woman walking around her own head looks like. We were all in agreement that the contortionists, the guys on the rotating wheels and one girl's butt were amongst the most amazing things we had ever seen. Man, I fucking love California and if I wasn't from the west coast and it didn't feel like running home going back I would move there.
In an attempt to make this relevant to the land of SG, I was happy to see Madeleine briefly as she's really awesome and I never get to talk to her anymore, and got to meet Lizzi for the first time (though I was drunk enough that it was probably really only like a half meeting). Much more could be said, but I had a good time and I have lots to do if all my dreams are to come true in 2008. Good luck in your pursuits of the new year!
Also, I just got the newest Akercocke album and it's fucking awesome.
