Alright, so, since our last episode:
The trip to visit my mom and sis went as planned and was a blast. The first day was spent running around the Bronx buying stuff for her apartment in the 1000% relative humidity. Okay, that wasn't so awesome. The second day we did all kinds of touristy stuff and stayed in Greenwich Village which was awesome. We took the ferry to Ellis Island and I got to see a record of my grandfather's immigration from Denmark with his parents in 1919. I was really close to my grampa, so it felt good to make some kind of connection with my ancestry. I also went and saw his grave on my trek across the country ealier this Summer, incidentally. We also went to the very top of the Empire State Building which was a LONG ways up. Unfortunately, the MOMA was closed during the days we had to go see it, so I guess I'll have to go back. Also unfortunately, I learned that the Dissection show at BB King's has been cancelled, because they won't let that Nodveidt guy into the country. Something about being a remorseless murderer. In addition to such tourist activities we also ate at a bunch of really nice restaurants and just generally had a good time.
So, after New York it was time to show my family members around Boston, and I'm pleased to say that I've become quite familiar with this place in the short time that I've been here. We went to the Aquarium and enjoyed the penguins, but were dissapointed that the sharks were abroad for the warmer months. While we were standing in line for tickets they re-routed it and we ended up in front of people that had been in front of us. This led to multiple overweight parents murmuring about how we weren't supposed to do that to their stupid kids who were whining, anyway. I tried to keep from getting pissed off about it, but the whole time I was inside I felt really edgy; like some heroic father was going to start a fight with me, but it never happened. We followed that 'Freedom Trail' thing that leads you to various historic points that thing never fucking ends! Jesus! So we took a break, for which I was thankful and watched some breakdancers from the Bronx at Faneul Hall. Usually I prefer my irony with a little bit more bitterness, but it was sufficient for the situation. We also went to the Gardner Gallery and the top of the Prudential building and ate in the restaurant there. Yeah, we did alot of that: eating. We went to alot of restaurants that I certainly wouldn't be able to afford, so it was pretty cool all around.
Outside of the family fun, I've been hanging out and hitting bars with a couple of the guys in the grad program at MassArt and they're really cool. I think we're going to the Massahusetts Museum Of Contemporary Art sometime this week. Speaking of coffee, I watched that new cartoon, 'Metalocalypse' last night and I have to say that I wasn't totally enraged by it. In fact, I kind of enjoyed it. It's pretty obviously done by people that know something about metal, and that's good.
Upcoming events include getting my studio key! Fuck yeah! I can paint again! Later that week Origin will be playing at The Middle East, so that should be cool, and on the topic of cool shows: Dragonforce is playing Worcester in September! Awesome! Also, the beautiful and witty Ms. Madeleine will be coming over to check out a school so I'm looking forward to seeing her. We should have a pretty packed weekend with the Suicide Saturday thing in RI and Body Worlds 2 at the Science Museum, so that'll be cool. I know I have a lot more stuff on my calendar, but it's across the room, so that's it for now.
I've got some photos from all that other stuff but haven't taken them off my camera yet, I'll put some up once I do.

Wait, there is indeed hand splintering going on but it's from moving camera/sound equipment and craft service and computer equipment...which is all apparently made of wood now? Oh nevermind! I just crapped all over that metaphor!
