non mars volta issues will follow this report.... Also, please note, I'm thinking aloud throughout this entire entry, so apologies if you lose me...
The Mars Volta
Last night I witenssed over 2 hours of total genius. I had seen them before on 3 occasions but this was just on another level: totally off the scale.
At the risk of soundingl ike an idiot, I will admit that I had tears in my eyes throughout. The sheer scale of what was taking place before me just shook me; I almost couldnt take it.
The addition of another member for live performances was unexpected... A gentleman who played percussion, tenor saxaphone, bass clarinet & the flute. Another dimension that you would have never thought was needed, but once you've heard you know it is perfect.
All in all.....this was the best live show I have ever seen. Immense.
More Mars Volta.....
The single (The Widow) was released today, and conatins the track, frances the mute. Strange that the title track of thier album isn't on it.... The DVD single contained some live footage of the first time I saw them, at the Electric Ballroom in Camden. A pretty good extra. The 12" is an immaculate numbered picture disc. Again, very nice collectable item, bound to have people hunting for the lower numbers (I saw you scroobiuspip...)
If you dont like/dont know of The Mars Volta, apologies for this boring post... But its my journal.
Fothcoming shows:
- The Mars Volta
- Mos Def
- Ploysics
- Sage Francis
- Saul Williams
Now, should I go to Glastonbury, or should I save like a motherfucker and go no New York with scroobiuspip (unless he has changed his mind)????
There is no Glastonbury in 2006, so thats a good reason. But I want to go to New York to spray walls and buy records. Hmmm.
Have finally decided that I'm moving back with my mother for a while. Lets weigh up the pros and cons....
Pros:
- Mo Money! I will be able to afford the drum machine and various other gubbins that I have a medical need for
- I'll get cooked for even if I dispute... This will improve my diet
- The thing I dislike doing the most in the wold is ironing.... No more of that
Cons:
- I'll be living with my fussy mother
- Very small room
- An hour of travelling to get to work
- Less freedom, despite being 22.....
Meh. It'll be ok. My productivity dropped a fair amount when I moved out too. If I;m with my mother I;m not going to sit with her and watch fucking Coronation Street so I'll get more music made. And I'll be able to afford the things I need to make great music. I'll also be able to spend on instruments too......
Enough of this..... Sorry for wasting your time... If you read this far I congratulate you.
