back from the redwoods - it is really a shame to see my friend's cabin get sold - it i s a beautiful place between anna neuvo and pigeon point, set back about 5 miles from the coast in very dense second growth redwoods. it has been in his family since his great grand mother and while the structures are a bit lacking it is a great place to just get away. day or night it is almost dead quiet and at night the tree canopy keeps the place almost as dark as a cave.
unfortunately, the listing was posted a week early so while we were sitting there Saturday afternoon getting crocked, prospective buyers started showing up. the first group was a young couple who were really cool and hung out with us and drank beer and were working their lives up from a poor side immigrant family type of story and doing well for themselves and all was cool. as the day wore on though people kept coming in their BMW SUVs and such and had no respect for the land and blah blah blah and we just wanted to make our one dump run and keep drinking beer. but this would not happen until close to dark when finally we could let the silence and pitch black close in around us.
the night was great - much more drinking and chatting and blabbering as will always be the case when hannging out with an old friend but of course Sunday was disturbed by more of the same situation and now we had very fuzzy hung over brains - which meant we needed more beer and more beer was had as we said farewell to the place and headed out to be stuck in bay area traffic for the next 3 hours trying to get home....
anyway - i have posted some images from another series that you can see here. i guess this project comes to mind since i was out in the world of natural landscapes and was shooting more content for this project this past weekend.
all the images in this set are created through layered images of landscapes and natural forms. most of the content is shot from moving cars with slow shutter speeds and high road speed. it takes nature and distorts it into a blur that you are both passing by and being absorbed into. the world in a state of flux and following many of the concepts of Camille Paglia and her conceptualization of nature as an absorbing female form of raw energy that consumes yet has no definitive form. and that is my brief attempt to explain how this set ties in and creates a bridge between the water images and the images of acheron and i - and if i had had a few less beers this evening that would probably make more sense so ask me again when i am sober. the actual completed works are 13"x19" archival inkjet prints.
i still have two projects that i have yet to post the foundation images from and that are ongoing projects as well. i will try and add these in the upcoming week. in addition to what i shot this weekend, i will be shooting new content for the series with myself and acheron this weekend so sometime within the next month more images form that series should surface. i would like to say it would be sooner, but since there really are two shoots for each image (the video and then the stills) plus the heat transfer process i doubt i will be able to complete any new pieces prior to that.
and additionally while i want to always add absurd, bizarre or funny news stories to my posts i regret to say that nothing i saw in the media since i got back has appealed to me if you want i can always make something up....
until next time

I totally know what you mean. Sewing can be frustrating enough to learn without having someone bullying you. I hope you can find some space for a work area, it's SO important!

I like your shoulder/chest tattoos. Can I ask how much they cost, hurt?
