Man would I love to give one of these a shot: http://www.openlabs.com/neko64.php
Packing up the tower/monitor/keyboard package for each show is going to get old really quick. Of course, I doubt the Neko64 is the type of thing that I, or anyone within driving distance of me, would be able to troubleshoot/upgrade/repair, so maybe it's best that I just stick with the clunky old tower for now.
And I'm off to eat before my next class.

holly shit that thing is almost scary. maybe a newer laptop and usb keyboard contoler would be the way to go. you actually carry your tower and monitor to a gig? that would get old, although i imagine that's what drummers are used to. except, let's face it, drums in their cases are pretty light. so really have to wonder about drummers whining bwaahaaahaa... so what else are you running in your system? i've got an mbox with protools, fl studio, reason adapted, ableton live, sample tank2, and various preamps, and a couple pretty good rode mics. i'm trying to create this sort of organic electronic type stuff but it's all kinda coming out sounding like a perfect circle or something like that, oh well, you write what you write
