I work. A lot. And for the most part, I really like what I do, which is more than many people can say.
Currently I'm working about 50 or 60 hours, six days a week. The money is alright; for the jobs I don't like doing as much the money sort of makes up for the crap. For the job I really enjoy, the semi-low pay is made up for by the fun and the freedom to be myself. They're both alright trade-offs.
But I really, really wish I was making more art. Most nights I get in at 10:30 or 11, maybe eat something, and lie in bed watching Star Trek or Futurama (And injecting funny quotes into the opposite shows. During one episode about the Borg, Thom piped up, "There's your problem- this doll's set to evil," and I laughed for a million years). But anyway, I'm so bone-tired most days from cleaning other peoples' houses that I just sort of flop into bed and repeat.
Also, I actually owe artwork to two or three people (and I haven't forgotten you). But I worry sometimes that anything I try to squeeze out will turn out forced and flat.
This isn't a cry for help or advice. I think it's just a vent (I'm just on a 5-minute break from work at the record store). But man. Oh man, oh man.
