Do you have any suggestions on how to break the ice with family if you haven't talked to them in awhile? I havent spoke with my dad in like 6 months, and I'm getting the itch to get ahold of that side of the family. Mainly for my sisters, how I love dearly. They are pain in the asses, but I wouldn't have them any other way. Here's two of the four rugrats:
Getting ready to leave Japan. Less than a month. Headed to California. But surprisingly, I am starting to get a feeling of sadness. Which is weird cause overall I have some fucking awful memories and feelings for this place. But I think it is things like this that makes all the others fade away:

And no longer will I endure a typhoon
And I will miss some great friends
Or at least people who act like it

UPDATE: Good news, I finally talked to my dad. I feel like I was worried more than I had to be. Things seems alright now.
