I just read the best book! It was excellent. Its called "Plague on Wheels" by Kilgore Trout.
Its about this planet of creatures that look very similar to automobiles. They had internal combustion engines and ate fossil fuels. Yet they were not built in factories. No way! They reproduced! They laid eggs that contained tiny automobiles that matured in pools of oil. Yeah its weird but it kinda makes sense in a way.
Well anyway the planet of autos (not Ottos HAHAHAHAHA!!!) was visited by another race of smaller explorers who discovered that the atmosphere of Lingo 3 (thats where the autos lived) was being destroyed by its own inhabitant's foul exaust fumes. There is nothing the visitors can do to help the dying planet of Lingo 3 but they promise to tell Lingo 3's sad tale everywhere they go. Kago their spokesman says "You will be gone but not forgotten."
Later...the visitors led by Kago visit earth and see that our lush green planet is dying the same way Lingo 3 died. Kago goes to a bar in Detroit to explain the sad story of the automobile and how Earth could suffer the same fate. Kago was so tiny (only an inch high) that everyone ignored him and when he laid down to rest a drunk automobile worker mistook Kago for a match. The man killed Kago by trying to strike him repeatedly against the underside of the bar...
Yeah it was depressing but a great story.
It would be an awesome movie!!!!
