Now I don't want to sound overly dramatic or anything, but surely people have noticed how in the big rich countries, things like modern foreign languages have already been taken out of compulsory education as well as a fair bit of universities and the like?
And now it seems as though Humanities is next.
Philosophy has already gone, and English departments are being phased out and merged with things like computer games.
In the next few years, our society will have no appreciation for art - be it poetry, paintings, music or novels. Sure, there'll still be movies, music bands and Suicide Girls (thank God for that), but nothing lasts anymore. Jobs are becoming ephemeral, education is being "streamlined" by idiots who can only think of lining their pockets with more cash. But who will be left to teach the next generation the joys of Shakespeare, the beauty of the Mona Lisa or the brilliance of Mozart? Will they even know who those people were?
Take for example how Joshua Bell played in a subway a few years ago during rush hour and how he played majestically difficult pieces and yet he ended up turning the heads of a few people, out of 1100 - children were more interested in his music... And a few months ago, paintings from Banksy were being sold on a high street, and no-one could recognise them for what they were. How brainless are we becoming?
Society is regressing and politicians fail to promote the qualities of Humankind - creativity in all aspects. We are becoming mindless drones after only money and making the more than anyone else.
Am I the only one seeing this?
