fine Jay!
i was just thinking how i dont feel like writing a blog, but since you commented :/
sigh
ok
this week has been very tense and stressful. i have never had an oral exam before let alone entrance exam so i didnt know what to expect. my irst one was on tuesday and was for Culture studies and i was reeeeaaally nervous but the panel seemed quite nice, i even managed to make them laugh
wednesday i had an optometrist appointment, faaaaaar away and at 9.45 -_-' early. it was Chris's birthday so i was up late the night before making cupcakes and wrapping presents. and i traveled with all these things to the clinic and had my eyes tested but i have to go again on the 27th and the ladies were very stern with me for not having the write insurance papers with me and not having glasses etc.
AAAAaaanyway now the nice bits
when i got to his house i woke him up he was all sleepy and squishy and cuuute. i hid the cupcakes in the fridge (it has been exorbitantly hot recently) and then we did the whole happy birthday-present opening stuff. if you are interested i bought him the new mars volta cd Octahedron and a vinyl on Tangrine Dream Electic Meditation.
then we made breakfast and to our great birthday joy we discovered that tv was showing the first Star Trek film then we hung out a bit but i had me next entrance talk at 14.30 so we had to get going to the institute of Etnology.
where i got very stressed out coz they hadnt told me to bring my matric documents and they were being silly about it but eventually they decided i could bring them in the next day. i found their questions vague and a bit weird. i think i might have intimidated them with being from africa and all :/ one of them had a ponytail. lame.
we went back to Chris's house and ordered in a HUGE amount of sushi and watched the 1973 japanese film Sex and Fury. awesome!
we couldnt eat all our sushi in one go
in the evening we met a couple of friends at a silly bavarian style place were we had beer and were loud and obnoxious and recquested the free birthday cake that they claim to give (that never arrived) and threw around a squishy splat pig and had great childish fun. after which we continued in this manner threw the street and to a club/bar type place where we go sometimes. we stayed til closing and then 3 of us wandered around in the night and ended up on a playground drinking the last 2 beers. [side note! for the first time i tested out peeing standing up in the field, so to speak, and i am pleased to report great success! ] yay
thursday was hangover day but we also needed to prepare for our Philosophy in English talk, which Chris applied for too. it was difficult. twas also my parents anniversary (29th) and we eventually came to my house to have pizza tea and champagne with them and had a pleasant evening talking to them. then stayed up til 3.30 reading the philosophy text. then had a night terror kind of thing where i was really fucking scared and hyperventilating and twitching strangely but still aware that i was awake. scary shit man
then woke up at 7 to make it to my exam at 9. -_-
my english is ofcoure much better than the panels, but i was so nervous i honestly dont know if it went well or not. i almost burst into tears when i got out of there just from stressing. Chris's was at 16 so we had a lot of time to keep stressing and for him to prepare some more. he was not pleased with the talk at all.
but still hard to tell if it was bad or good.
sigh
last night my close freind was having a farewell, hes moving to another town. and now lives quite a way away from here. but we took Norbar and traveled and had a nice time talking to some french music school people who were there couch surfing. then we bussed back to civilization and walked the long way back to out side of the river on the tram tracks that are closed for construction. very nice
and today i feel very lazy. the results are gonna be posted on monday so i have a bit more stressing to do. i just want to not do much today. later we will go to Norbars place (also an hour bus ride but a different direction) and watch movies and sleep over. very nice
that was long and silly
hope you're all having nice times. good weekends. and stuff
