In racing, they tell you that after an accident, you should get back in the car and start driving again as soon as possible or else you may develop a fear that youll never overcome. In equine sports, they say the same about the saddle. I believe the same holds true for photography. My life has tumbled out of control as of late. An unplanned career change, a lawsuit, an interstate move, and now a divorce have all conspired to sap my creativity. It got to the point where I would look at my cameras and feel ill. I wanted nothing to do with the hobby I love so much.
Until this past week.
Ive been unpacking, sorting, and organizing my studio space in the new house and finding old photo toys I forgot Id had. Theyve been igniting that spark back inside me. Last week, during the annual late-February/early-March snowstorm that everyone freaks out about because they forget it happens every year, I was at work, and I felt an urge to go out in the blinding snow and take a photo. So I did. Then the next day I took another, and it felt great. It was like reuniting with an old friend. I wanted more. Logic told me I should ration myself, ease back in slowly. Nah, fuck that. Im getting back in that drivers seat and Im hammering down. Nothing can stop me now, lest I lose my zeal forever. In just a few short minutes, Ill be heading down to Richmond to shoot (as a spectator) the Virginia Auto Show. Then Ill be heading up to Remington to my parents place where Ill be going to bed early so I can get up at the ass-crack of dawn and go shoot the Washington DC Rock and Roll Marathon. Once that wains down, Im headed over to the National Botanical Garden where Ill be playing with my new macro setup until its time for the Google Plus DC Photowalk and Drink & Click that somehow, in the last week, I became co-organizer of. Somewhere along the way, Im going to try to squeeze in a few personal projects. Its going to be a non-stop, hardcore, adrenaline fueled photography blitz. And I wouldnt have it any other way.

Apparently the car show is next weekend and I fail at reading calendars. Oh well. Time to get a haircut and explore Richmond a bit.
