Everyone I know from Oregon always goes on and on about how great Oregon is. They're like New Jersey fanboys, only much nicer and less douchey about it. I've come to the conclusion that they're absolutely right. So far, Oregon is fucking awesome. I love the woods. I always have. It might be a different flavor, and the trees are certainly bigger than we have back east, but these pine forests reaching into the Cascade mountains are breathtakingly beautiful. Headed to the coast this morning, I found myself thinking "the ocean is the ocean..." Nothing prepared me for what I saw at Cannon Beach. Wow.
I could go on and on, but I'd either sound like a native, or just be telling you what you probably already know. One thing is for certain, though. I will be back. There's still so much to explore.

Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime.
