I'm such a dork.
I finally get some time to wind down after six days with no power, a trip to VA beach, national blow shit up day (and oh, lord, did we blow shit up), and then another storm with two more days of no power. But did I wind down? Nope. I decided to start playing warhammer 40K again after a 12-year hiatus. But, obviously, I couldn't just dust off the old models and start rolling away at the dice, nope, too easy. I stripped off all the paint from everything and have started painting again. This is going to take weeks, but given my proclivities towards photographic tendencies, there will be photos as they come along.
The Va Beach trip was exactly what I needed. Alone time with the boys, hanging out, raising hell, drinking beers, and getting sunburnt while body surfing. Some last second plans to meet up with Antinua fell through, but that's okay. I don't think anything else on that trip could have compared to finally getting to see the Beach Boys. I've literally been waiting 25 years for this opportunity. They have been, and probably always will be my all-time favorite band. Trip photos to come when I get around to developing my film. It might take a bit longer than normal for some, though. I decided to run a couple rolls of velvia, and I think I'm actually going to send it out and have it developed as slide to use with an upcoming project, rather than just cross-process it in the bathroom sink as I usually do.
Oh, and for king dorkdom, my MTG group is running a "BOO Draft" where everybody makes a set of 45 cards, then we have them printed, shuffled, and packed by a non-participant and let the chaos begin. I've got my set finished, and have a little over half finished up in MSE. Two themes I'm running with are a tapdown of every color with a coinflip and a counterspell of every color. I've also created a few new abilities. Here's some spoilers (oh, and all photos/illustrations are either mine, creative commons with attribution, or so commonplace on the internet that proper attribution was nigh impossible):
