Expanding Photographic Horizons
So, recently I've been getting wrapped up in Google Plus's photographic community, including both the daily themes and the photography deathmatch. This is good. Not only is it challenging me in new/different ways from Farktography and given me better exposure to others' styles to learn from, it's also making me take a critical look at some of my previous works. Two opposing examples follow:
First, this little gem. Originally uploaded straight out of the camera, it was scenic but bland. It had no soul. In the four years since I took the photo, I've learned key things like post processing. With just a few mouse clicks, I brought new life into it, as it now stands.

Second, this one, as it was originally. Not only have I had this photo published (Focus Poland, September 2010), but it's now been cited by several other photographers on G+ as their favorite from my entire portfolio.

So, with Thanksgiving now a recent memory, I'll give one more round of thanks to everyone who's helped me to expand my photographic vision over the years and a toast to continuing improvement.
