I met with an interesting bit of discrimination today. My son was sick at school. I had turned my phone on after leaving an audition to find a message from my ex. Evidently the school nurse had called her to let her know. I called the school and told them I was on my way. When I picked him up I asked the nurse if there had been some confusion on the contact sheet. I was very polite and was asking primarily out of curiousity. She said she wasn't sure and looked up his sheet. Sure enough the first and second contact numbers were my cell phone and home phone.
She then explained that she always calls the mother and said it in such a way that it seemed she was challenging me to tell her she was wrong. She then said "I'm almost always right about that" and said there was no notice in his record that I should be the one to contact. She then asked if I would like there to be a note to that effect and I told her yes. She didn't seem happy about it. For chrissakes I'm the first two numbers on the damned paper.
Even if he was in her custody at the time when he got sick I should still be contacted. I also wonder that my ex then called me to come from work to get him when she is only a few blocks away instead of just picking him up and calling me to come get him from her place.
A lot of other BS going on too but I don't feel like ranting right now.
