Well, I am going to see a short film a friend of mine directed tonight. He's a guy I used to work with in Chicago many years ago. One of those "tortured artist" type directors for whom directing comercials was the equivalent of selling one's soul to the devil. Made me sit through hours of Bunel films as a younger man. Can you tell how much I am looking forward to it?
I had to arrange for a sleepover for my son so I could go. I was almost hoping no one would be available. We actually had one of his buddies stay over here last night so his dad could go to a wedding dinner for a friend of ours. A six and a seven year old running around bashing each other with plastic swords all night. Woo hoo!
I made them teddy bear shaped pancakes for breakfast. They liked that. Not that I am bragging here but I forget sometimes what a well behaved kid I have. Don't get me wrong I love his budy Gabe. I have known him since my son was 6 months old but MAN is that kid loud.
Had a nice chat with his dad this morning too. They split up about a year before we did and I remain convinced that was one of the factors that gave my ex the courage to finally walk out to go "find herself". It's interesting to get someone's perspective who has been through a similar situation.
Well, I suppose I should go get ready. Wish me luck.
*Update* Well it wasn't too bad at all. It was also good to see my friend and his wife. It had been 2 years since I had seen him and 12 before that. Hadn't seen her in 14 years. So all in all I'll give it a thumbs up.
