my stance on the drugs allegations is innocent till proven guilty, and no guilt is ever proven via the media, which is what's going in in Europe right now. A German paper alleges new evidence, but T-Mobile dismissed it, saying it's not in the official report. Basically, the media in this thing (as they always have been since Festina) are shitbag parasites out to stir the shit some more and sell more papers.

Neither Jan or Basso have said anything to the press, which I think is the way to go. It's got nothing to do with the press, and no one will be helped when they are involved. I take what the press say with a miniscule grain of salt; their agenda is on the other side of the spectrum from the cycling world's and they serve no helpful purpose whatsoever.

Re: Jan, I really really hope he's innocent. For a guy whose been allegedly doping he's had some pretty crappy results the last few years. I will be sad if the allegations are proved true. Pevanage, on the other hand, I can't stand. He's a crappy DS and I was happy to see him sacked the other day.

A lot of riders are having a tough race. My theory is that a) the strongest freaks of nature are out (Jan, Basso, what's his name who broke his hip a few years back in that nasty crash), and b) the strong overall tour (as opposed to one day riders) riders with the most experience are out (see above list), and c) riders are riding clean.

The race is wide open this year, and I am behind anyone who rides valiantly, which all the guys have been doing. Dessel defended the yellow brilliantly and with his last ounce of strength, Floyd fought hard to get it, the sprinters were great and are making it over the mountains, O'Grady is a total stud riding with a cracked vertebrea and still mixing it up in the sprints, young guys are starting to show their potential, Kessler was valiant in his two breakaways and one win, teams have come together psychologically, etc etc.
