Hello internet loves. Where do I begin? I apologize for being so distant; the beginning of this year has been a busy one (although exciting)!
Let's get this out of the way first. You all know I cannot resist blogging about school; especially since it's where I put most of my time and energy and blood, sweatt, and tears. My independent research project is off to a great start! I'm looking at college drinking with predictive variables that no one has observed until now. With this project comes publishing (hopefully), so I have been asked by my mentor to present at a national psychology conference in South Carolina next spring! Needless to say, I am a nervous wreck. I had to make not one, but two speeches at my high school graduation... Sweaty palms & stuttering. That is all. LOL but I am so thankful for the opportunity! This is huge. I'm honestly so impressed that my team trusts in me enough to send me to such a large, prestigious event in our field. Okay, enough university blabber... almost
On Valentine's Day, my beau & I went to a research proposal workshop at my university. After the meeting's end, we drove down to Mobile, Alabama, to schedule a tattoo appointment (yay)! When we got back to our car, all of the downtown area had been shut down. No one could drive. It was the opening night of Mardi Gras! 💜💛💚 I can't believe we forgot. We bought our overpriced drinks & street vendor food & took to the streets. The parade was beautiful!
Next on my agenda was seeing the mega talented Shakey Graves perform at the Alabama Music Box. This was my treat to my guy for Valentine's Day. After a four hour ordeal battling police, the show was FINALLY on. It really was crazy, y'all. But damn did Shakey put on a fantastic performance! Jeremy & I were front row, singing & grooving along. We even managed a photo & a quick convo with him after the show!
A few days later, it was time for my tattoo appointment we scheduled! (This was MY V-day present ☺️) As always, AJ Ludlow of Royal Street Tattoo in Mobile, AL, is responsible for this beautiful piece.
This night was also Mardi Gras in Mobile, but we parked a ways out of the downtown area. We were able to scramble back to the car & get out of dodge before any parades started! We took advantage of our great escape & had a lovely dinner of steak & lobster. My man treats me well. (I actually had coconut shrimp, but they don't exactly photograph as well as what you see below on my guy's plate.) XD
Here's some more food we ate in the past few days. We were riding around after visiting head shops & spotted a cute little sushi joint tucked away in a shopping center. Obviously, we had to try it out. And of course I had to bombard the photo with sick little kawaii ass stickers n shit.
Literally the best miso soup we've ever eaten, & we've eaten a lot of miso soup.
& in un-related to food news, I got my hair dyed a lovely bright orange/red. It's so vibrant! Definitely not what I am used to, but I absolutely love it.
Phew.A lot has happened since I last was able to give you all an update. As for this week, I am out of my university today & tomorrow for Fat Tuesday (we fucking love Mardi Gras, in case you can't tell). However, after all the partying & fun times, it is dreaded Midterms this Thursday. I have two exams and one research paper due. Shouldn't be anything too challenging, just time consuming to say the least. But the best part is, after Thursday… it begins my Spring Break holiday! I couldn't be happier. And although we go to different colleges, my beau luckily has the same spring break (-: We are leaving a week from Thursday to visit my sister in Nashville.
Exciting things!
I hope all of you are staying safe in this crazy back and forth weather. Good luck to those of you with midterms! & as always, feel free to write me anytime, as I absolutely love getting to know you all from the site <3
Cheers!
xx
