I voted for ol' Ralphie in 2000, so I was glad when he decided to run again. He speaks the truth, and the man is like ten times more intelligent than the next most intelligent human being. Not sure I'll vote for him this time around, but here is something I wrote on the subject for anyone with some patience to read it.

Perhaps Nader's entry into the run for the presidency is "untimely;" however, was it not refreshing to hear someone discuss the real issues our nation is facing? i.e., the corporate coup of both political parties and the serious negligence of the main stream media to address the challenges we face as a nation, perhaps the greatest being the ignorance of the populace!
Im not sure if Ill vote for Ralph Nader or not, if anyone can turn me into a pragmatic voter it is George W. Bush, but not only do I feel uninspired by both the two Democratic frontrunners, I honesty dont believe that our foreign policy (which is my primarily concern in this election) would look any different at this point under Democratic leadership than Republican. Maybe if Gore were elected we would not be in Iraq, although the Democratic party is not without it hawks and neo-cons, but now that we are there, in Iraq, neither party will do what is in Iraqs and even our own best interest, which would be to pull out and begin the process of supporting democracy from the ground up not the top down. Im so tired of the imperial legacy that our county is now encumbered with. It is not our job to spread democracy. Not only is the idea inherently oxymoronic, but also putting ourselves in the shoes of the ruler threatens our own democracy by planting the seed of superiority and arrogance in our statesmen and citizens. Ask yourself who really benefits from the spread of U.S. global hegemony? Minorities, the working class, you? Or the elite few who would much rather keep the masses anger directed at foreign terrorists and evil doers than at the social inequalities in American and around the world.
Not to mention the fact that the world is a more divided place to live in now that we are occupying an Arab country and still continue to support the occupation and colonization of another Israel, Palestine. On this issue the Dems are even worse than Republicans. Democratic elected officials are so tainted in their view of the Middle East due to their dependence on the Jewish vote as well as other less practical reasons. Republicans are indifferent to Jewish opinion, since they get such a dismal amount of the Jewish vote, and tend to support Israel for ideological reasons, mainly religious. The Middle East matters because the world is sharply being divided between West and East, Christian and Muslim, and if the U.S. continues to play into the hands of those who wish to perpetuate this Clash of Civilizations (Muslim, Christian, and Jew alike) the world will most certainly be a more militarized, intolerant, and dangerous place to live.
The mainstream democrats are so backwards on this issue that I flinch at the possible unavoidable scenario of voting for one of them.
Whether or not you agree with Naders decision to run for President as an Independent candid, our other choice is clearly the lesser of two evils.
