The callousness of grocery store cashiers in NY is unacceptable to me. When I was out at school in PA, the one thing I must say I enjoyed was that people would actually acknowledge that you were in front of them at places like a grocery store. No dice here in NY... you could put the most fucked up combination of items on the conveyor belt and the cahsier wouldn't blink.

I found this out by accident a while back, when I only needed Draino and lemonade mix from the store. As i put it in front of her I realized how bad that looked, to only be buying a toxic liquid and a sugary drink powder. But of course, no response from the cashier. Like i'm gonna go home and off myself with this homemade libation and you don't even give half a shit.

So now I've started buying really awkward combinations of items in a quest to get any kind of reaction. Here's a recap of some of my recent trips... if anyone has any suggestions, lemme have em. I'm determined to see just one raised eyebrow or something from these people.

- frozen burritos, laxatives, and an economy sized package of toilet paper
- dixie cups and rat poison
- Huggies diapers and chocolate syrup
- a cucumber, a jar of Vaseline, and a Happy Birthday Grandma greeting card
