How's this for update worthy news?
Canada is the third country in the world to allow gay marriage nationwide, after the Netherlands and Belgium.
The way I see it, if marriage is what a gay couple need to feel validated or happy then so be it. Anyone opposed to it, that it does not affect should just shut the fuck up and worry about their own sad lives.
This gives me something else to be proud of my country for.
I am not much of a politically minded person. I was previously happy that the process was in place that someone would get voted in to run the country so I wouldn't have to worry about it. Now I have to say that Stephen Harper(leader of the conservative party) has offended me with his comments to the effect of the legitimacy of the gay marriage bill being passed. His comments were to the effect of because the Bloc (a party with candidates in Quebec only) was voting to support it, this took away from it's legitimacy because more (percentage wise) federal party mp's were against it. I have lost any sort of inclination I might have ever been able to find to vote for his party. Being from Alberta, the Conservative stronghold in Canada, I hope this means something. I want to vent more but suffice it to say that I am very offended at his comments and angry and very very happy that this bill was passed.
I didn't realize Hot Hot Heat was from Victoria. I might have known some of them. I went to school there until '98, taking music. Anyways, Sonic plays a few of their songs. I really like them. I'm all for clever lyrics.
My last entry was not meant to sound so depressing. I was pretty ambivalent at the time.
Oh! The Moose strikes again. We won on Monday night.
My life is boring. I go to work, I pay bills off. I go to the Quiz every Monday. I have my days off and sit around and do nothing. I need something to break it all up. Next week I am going to visit my sister I think. She lives by the mountains. Should be fun. I am planning on going somewhere sometime in July. Even if it is just a weekend thing. I need to break it up. I might make the trip to Montana I was planning. If I can find someone to go with. Road trips are no fun alone. Do they have Carl's Jr (?) in Montana? I want to go there. At least to a jack in the box. We don't have them.
My CD is almost done. Time to start on another one. I'd like quite a few mix ones. A friend of mine has a tenpack in his car. Even I know most of the songs in his car by now, and he has all ten filled. I have 2 now. I'll have a copy of the CD we made for Stuart- the guy who runs the quiz. The whole team all chose a couple of songs they liked and we put them on a disc to play on quiz nights, and gave it to Stuart. It's a good disc. What we didn't tell him was that it was for us for inspiration. He played it this week and we won. Not coincidence in my mind. We titled it Songs in the Key of Moose.
Anyways, that's enough typing for now. Hope everyone is well. I wish it was possible to give people happiness. Like in the quantitative way you give money. I give someone $5. They are now $5 richer. Happiness tends to dissipate sometimes. Well here's wishing happiness to everyone. I hope you can hold on to it.
